1991 Campagnolo
C-Record Century Gruppo
Complete used C-Record Century gruppo.
The only component not included is the shifters, but they don't really
exist, so the gruppo is really complete.
This is what's included:
- Century hubs, with
130mm, 8 speed cassette in the rear, built up with Mavic GL330 tubular
rims, 32/32, laced 3-cross with Wheelsmith spokes straight 14 gauge
spokes.
- Century Delta
brake calipers and matching brake levers with Power-Grade adjustment.
- Century crankset
with 172.5mm arms, and 42/53 rings. Please note that the crankset has been
modified. The reverse-threaded self-extractor crank bolts have been
removed and the threading on the crankarms has been changed to normal
threading. The crankarms can now be mounted with standard crank
bolts and dust caps, and removed with a traditional crank extractor. Alternatively,
the cranks can be mounted with Campagnolo crank bolts with incorporated dustcaps
(these actually resemble the look of the self-extractor
bolts). The winner can choose to receive either a set of
standard Campy crank bolts and dust caps, or a set of the Campy crank
bolts with incorporated dustcaps.
- Century rear
derailleur
- Century front
derailleur
- Century headset
with English threading (it can be used on forks with either English or
Italian threading).
- Campagnolo Record
alloy 8 speed cassette, 12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21 (the 12T cog is
steel). Ultra light at only 130 grams.
- Campagnolo Record
seat post, 27.2 diameter.
- Campagnolo Record
bottom bracket, Italian threading (70 SP, 111mm wide spindle).
All the parts are in perfect working condition.
The headset and bottom bracket races are clean and spin perfectly.
The hubs also spin smoothly. Even the derailleur jockey wheels,
which have bearings, have been cleaned and lubed, and spin perfectly
smooth.
Cosmetically, some parts,
like the brake levers, the headset, and the hubs, look almost new.
Others show some wear, but overall this gruppo is in great condition,
and will look fantastic when installed.
Price is $2,399 plus
actual shipping.
Feel free to call me at
786-423-4024 with any questions you may have.

You can choose from this set of standard
Campy crank bolts and dustcaps, or the ones below.

The plastic container is included.

Sorry, the black plastic carrier is not
included.

I have polished the post since taking
these pictures, but I haven't had the chance to take new photos of the
post. So please note that the post actually looks much better
than what you see here.

A note about the Century shifters.
According the the 1991 Campagnolo Product Catalog (see photo below),
these shifters existed. And there is anecdotal evidence from a
few people who supposedly saw them and even had them in their hands.
I, however, have never seen them in any other photo, nor has anyone I
know. I think the most likely scenario is that Campagnolo made a
few prototypes but ultimately decided not to put them into production.
This means that there is virtually no
chance of finding a pair, so you should choose something else that is
appropriate for your gruppo. Many people used the Campagnolo
Synchro II shifters, or if you prefer friction shifting, you can use a
pair of Chorus or Croce D'Aune Graphite shifters, which will look good
with the Century finish.
I have a pair of Synchro II shifters with
a couple of "issues," but they are easily salvageable. I will
give them to the buyer for free, but only if you ask for them
(I'm trying to determine how many people actually get to the end of my
descriptions and still have the energy to read my final notes).
If you're still here, thank you for looking.
